Anne E. Mitchell

Anne started her creative career over 20 years ago as a professional lighting designer. Looking for another outlet for her artistic energies, Anne began teaching chain making and metal working approximately eight years ago for just pure enjoyment. During those years, Anne found that the creative outlet provided by teaching as well as a consistent demand for her classes was too alluring to deny. Leaving lighting behind in 2003, Anne is now a full-time designer, teacher, and author. Her classes always sell out at the Bead&Button Show and Interweave Bead Fest. She is a very dynamic teacher always pushing the technical and artistic limits with her designs.

We are very please to have Anne teach at our store and at the Suburban Bead Encounter.  Each class offered during her four days with us can be taken as a stand alone, however, when all four classes are completed a magnificent piece of jewelry will be the prize of your collection.  Take one or all of Anne’s classes, either way it will be an experience you won’t forget!

Remember class space is limited so please sign up early.  Call The Place to Bead at 630.416.2323 to reserve your class space today.

I have been involved with beading since I was a child and worked with Indian looms. Since then, beading has become my passion. I am very patient and have been teaching for six years.  I enjoy working with wire wrapping, seed bead projects, pearl knotting, silver soldering, art clay, enameling, glass fusing, and chain making.

I went to design school in Boston, MA, got married and had a son that I home schooled through high school.  When he left for college, I started teaching Jewelry making at Michaels Arts and Crafts Store and also started teaching private classes in my home studio. I have taken several jewelry and beading classes, have a certificate from AIG for pearl grading, and have my teaching certificate from Art Clay. I have also taught at the Sylvester Cancer Center at the University of Miami, senior citizen handicapped centers, The Gem and Mineral Society of Palm Beach, Bead Society of Palm Beach, and in Colombia, South America.  I speak Spanish and am now learning Italian.

Terry Rhoades

Terry’s husband Steve, an electrician by trade was used to working with his hands. Changing from tools to a torch he started experimenting with glass after watching his son work with borosilicate glass. As a self taught bead artist, Steve is always experimenting with colors while making his beautiful beads. With so many beads lying around the house, Steve began to encourage Terry to make jewelry.  Not knowing the first thing about stringing, Terry took a basic beading class at a local bead store and has been hooked making jewelry since.  Bokamo Designs was born in the spring of 2002 when the beads and jewelry took over the house. Terry has given up cleaning house for stringing Steve’s beads creating fun & unique jewelry. Terry designs all types of jewelry from rings to necklaces and has been recently published in Stringing and Bead Style Magazines.
